I had some problems finding enough thin, copper wire. In the end, it was easier and cheaper to just buy 100' of telephone wire and strip it. With four strands, now I have like 300' of wire left over.

Wrapped a few rows of unstripped wire 1" apart around the lamp shade.

Stripped the wire and reattached it. Wire rows are alternating polarity.

Soldered LEDs between the copper rows. Since the copper wire rows alternate polarity, by connecting the like polarities it ends up all being one big circuit.

It's alive!

Mounted the wire frame inside of the lamp shade.

Complete stand, built from very inexpensive and conveniently sized conduit pipe.
